Built by Fed-Up Parents and Functional Doctors Tired of False Choices

Like many families, we did not want to jump straight to stimulants. But we also refused to settle for wishful thinking, underdosed gummies, or wellness without science.

Growing Minds emerged from that tension.

Across our community, parents were seeing the same challenges in their children: focus, emotional regulation, and self-control. They felt the urgency to do better. Not later. Now. Clinicians were seeing the same pattern in practice. Developing brains were being offered either pharmaceutical intensity or unproven alternatives, with very little in between.

So we built what did not exist.

Growing Minds is the result of a collaboration between fed-up parents, clinical neuroscientists, and functional neurologists, many of whom are parents themselves, united by a shared belief that kids deserve smarter, safer, science-driven support.

Growing Minds Born from Personal Struggle and Scientific Discovery

For most of my life, ADHD has been a wrecking ball. ruining relationships, destroying jobs, and crushing my self-worth. I didn’t know it was ADHD. I just thought what was broken was me. After all, that’s what I was told.

That changed when I discovered Functional Neurology. It rewired patterns, cleared the fog, and finally gave me the tools to manage my ADHD naturally and, more importantly, effectively.

Now, I see ADHD in our kids too—and I refuse to let them grow up thinking they’re broken. This time, we’re not medicating it into silence. We’re meeting it with understanding, support, and something better.

Together with Dr. Christopher Caffery, the functional neurologist who helped change my life, we created Growing Minds: a science-backed wellness platform for every stage of ADHD.

About Dr. Chris Caffery

The Functional Neurologist Whose Work Focuses on Understanding How Developing Brains Function, Adapt, and Heal

Dr. Caffery’s path to functional medicine was shaped by both personal experience and years of advanced clinical training. After struggling with chronic health issues early in life and finding limited answers in conventional care, Dr. Caffery turned to a systems-based approach that looks beyond symptoms to address root causes. That perspective ultimately led him to functional neurology and functional medicine.

Dr. Caffery is a Fellow of the American College of Functional Neurology and a board-certified Diplomate in Neurology. He completed advanced specialty training in functional neurology, concussion and traumatic brain injury, vestibular rehabilitation, and neurotransmitter-based care. His work emphasizes how multiple systems of the body interact—particularly in the developing brain.

Dr. Caffery has also completed extensive training in functional medicine. He is a Certified Practitioner through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFMCP) and an Advanced Functional Medicine Clinician (AFMC) through the Kharrazian Institute, where his training focused on immune regulation, neuroinflammation, gut–brain interactions, and complex chronic disease mechanisms. This additional training allows him to integrate systems biology, nutrition, and lifestyle medicine with clinical neurology to better understand the underlying drivers of neurological and behavioral conditions.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Caffery has taught functional medicine and neurology at the graduate level and continues to educate other healthcare practitioners. His approach is grounded in research, precision, and a deep understanding of neurodevelopment.

Dr. Caffery partnered in the development of Growing Minds to help create a science-driven, non-stimulant option that supports focus, calm, and self-control in children—without shortcuts or guesswork.
